The CAT6E Outdoor UTP Network Cable (FL) is a robust, weather-resistant cabling solution specifically engineered for outdoor networking environments. Unlike standard indoor Cat5e or Cat6 cables that degrade under UV exposure and moisture, this outdoor-rated cable is built to withstand direct sunlight, rain, temperature fluctuations, and physical stress.

Construction & Materials:
The cable features 23 AWG solid bare copper conductors for superior signal transmission and lower attenuation compared to copper-clad aluminum (CCA) alternatives. The conductors are arranged in 4 tightly twisted pairs with a center cross separator (typical of Cat6/6e construction) to minimize crosstalk (NEXT) and improve signal integrity at higher frequencies. The outer jacket is made of UV-resistant PE (Polyethylene) or HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) material, which resists drying, cracking, and degradation from prolonged sun exposure—a critical feature for outdoor deployments.

The "FL" Designation Explained:
The "(FL)" suffix can have two primary meanings depending on the manufacturer:

• FastLink Brand: FastLink is a recognized manufacturer of structured cabling products. Their FL-67BUI model, for example, is a CAT6 outdoor U/UTP cable with 23 AWG solid copper, PE jacket, and 250MHz bandwidth certification.
• Flooded / Gel-Filled: For direct burial applications, "Flooded" cables contain a water-blocking gel or grease inside the jacket. This gel swells upon contact with water, preventing moisture from traveling along the cable and protecting the copper conductors from corrosion. Flooded cables are ideal for underground installations without conduit.

Performance Specifications:
This CAT6E cable supports frequencies up to 250 MHz (or higher, up to 600 MHz on premium models), enabling Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T) data transmission at the full 100-meter channel length. For shorter runs (up to 55 meters), it can support 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBase-T), making it suitable for future-proof network upgrades. The cable maintains a characteristic impedance of 100 ohms and features a nominal velocity of propagation (NVP) of approximately 67-68%.

Environmental Durability:
Designed for harsh outdoor conditions, this cable operates reliably in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 75°C and resists UV radiation, moisture, and physical abrasion. The black jacket is standard for outdoor cables as it provides the best UV resistance. For direct burial applications, the flooded/gel-filled variant adds an extra layer of moisture protection, ensuring long-term reliability even when buried directly in the ground without conduit.

Important Usage Notes:

• For direct burial installations, use Flooded/Gel-Filled (FL) cable to ensure moisture protection. Standard outdoor PE-jacketed cable is suitable for aerial or conduit installations but not for direct ground burial.
• Outdoor cable is stiffer and less flexible than indoor cable due to the thicker, UV-resistant jacket.
• Always ground shielded outdoor cable properly if using F/UTP or S/FTP variants to prevent lightning-induced surges (UTP versions do not require grounding).
• For PoE (Power over Ethernet) applications, ensure the cable gauge (23 AWG) supports the required power delivery over the intended distance.
